Item Overview

Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, highly preserved authentic mid-century (1951) Chinese hanging scroll painting (Shanshui-hua / 山水画). This hand-painted work features a striking, classical mountain landscape shrouded in rolling mist, executed with exceptional ink wash layering and brush technique.

Key Artwork Details

• Artist: Signed by 阮登雲 (Ruan Dengyun), a mid-20th-century regional studio artist.

• Poetic Title: 千峰临雲 (Translated: "A Thousand Peaks Overlooking the Clouds").

• Date of Creation: Dated August 1951 (Xinmao year, Early Autumn) via the vertical calligraphic inscription in running-cursive script (Xingcao). Includes the artist's original red stamp/seal (Yinzhang).

• Mounting Features: Finished with traditional, premium hand-carved natural ox bone roller knobs steeped in a beautiful deep magenta/purple organic dye.

Dimensions & Proportions

• Overall Scroll Size: 64 inches Long × 21 inches Wide (approx. 162.5 cm × 53.3 cm)

• Central Image Size: 26 inches Long × 17.5 inches Wide (approx. 66 cm × 44.5 cm)

• Format: Classic Zhongtang (middle-sized vertical scroll), ideal as a prominent focal piece for a living room, office, hallway, or study.

Condition Report

• Excellent / Fine Vintage Condition: This 75-year-old scroll has been stored with immense care in a smoke-free private collection for over 20 years.

• The traditional Xuan (rice) backing paper remains remarkably crisp, flat, and bright white, completely free of the typical heavy yellowing, water damage, tearing, or "foxing" (aging spots) commonly seen in mid-century scrolls.

• The dyed ox bone knobs are fully intact with beautiful, organic internal grain patterns visible under close inspection. One knob shows minor, completely normal surface wear/chips consistent with age, which does not affect hanging stability
