If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and will automatically send you updates when I put similar new listings online.
Here's a very scarce Deforest DT-800 two-stage AF amplifier, the companion to the Deforest DT-700 Radiohome receiver. And when I say very scarce, I mean very scarce. You'll see dozens of DT-700 radios before you a single DT-800 amplifier. The amp sold for as much as the radio, and production numbers were consequently quite low.
Condition is good, with normal signs of wear.
The lid sheet is original, and it's crisp and legible everywhere. The cabinet finish is likewise original, with scattered minor marks on all sides consistent with age and authenticity. Rheostat knobs turn easily, and the rheostats themselves are in good shape, with no rust or broken turns. The transformers are original, and both test good.
DV-3 and DV-5 Audion tubes both have good emissions and both have original cans. Wiring is original throughout, but there's an open connection somewhere, and I can't locate it. If you've got a schematic and an hour or two of time to go through the circuit, you can probably get the amp working in relatively short order. As noted above, the tubes, transformers and rheostats are all good. You just need to find Waldo :)
Shipping weight, properly packed, will be about 12 lb.
I'm one of 's best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique radios, and I specialize in radios from the 1920's. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique radio from me, you'll receive a radio that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a radio from a radiator), Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
