1860s SIAMESE TWINS German Figurine / CHANG & ENG BUNKER / Antique Souvenir:
$95.00
Chang & Eng Bunker were born in Siam (Thailand) in 1911 and were conjoined at the chest. They were brought to America in 1929 and became the famous Siamese Twins, touring the world for many years. They finally settled down, buying a plantation in North Carolina and marrying the Yates sisters. Together, they had 21 children and lived longer than any other set of conjoined twins up to their death in 1874.
This German-made figurine was most likely bought as a souvenir in the 1860s on one of their European tours. The base is impressed ‘Siam Zwillinge’ which is German for Siamese Twins. The figurine measures 3 1/4 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide and is in good antique condition (see photos).
