An original handwritten 1823 tobacco commission receipt / account, measuring approximately 3.75 x 7.75 inches, documenting the sale of three hogsheads of tobacco handled by JOHN H. TYREE, identified in print as a Commission Merchant, for THOMAS BOSWELL.
The receipt details individual hogshead numbers, gross weight, tare, net tobacco weight, pricing per unit, and extended totals in dollars and cents. A settlement notation at lower left reads “1823 Sept 21 – To cash in full”, indicating payment completed. The document is signed “By Saml Tyree” at lower right, likely acting on behalf of John H.
