15 LB 1930s-50s Greeting Card Archive Same Woman Christmas Easter Birthday:
$199.00

Remarkable approximately 15-pound personal archive of vintage greeting cards saved by the same woman in Sterling, Illinois, primarily from the 1930s through the 1950s.

This is not a modern collection assembled from different sources. The cards appear to have been received and saved by the same woman/family over a period of decades, creating a wonderful snapshot of everyday American life and social history.

The overwhelming majority of the approximately 15 pounds consists of vintage greeting cards, including Christmas, Easter, birthday, anniversary, Mother’s Day and other occasions. There are also original envelopes, handwritten correspondence and miscellaneous paper ephemera mixed throughout.

Many pieces retain handwritten messages, original envelopes, vintage postage and postmarks. Some groups were apparently organized by the original owner, including a bundle labeled “Easter Cards 1938 to 1946.”

The collection includes wonderful period graphics, typography, illustrations, decorative papers, glitter and other details characteristic of 1930s–1950s greeting cards.

Approximately 15 pounds total. Cards have not been individually counted or inventoried. Everything is being sold together exactly as found.

Condition varies considerably from piece to piece. Expect age toning, staining, folds, tears, edge wear, writing, damaged envelopes and other signs of decades of storage and use. Please use photographs as part of the condition description.

A fascinating intact accumulation for a vintage greeting card collector, ephemera collector, social-history collection, reseller, scrapbooker or mixed-media artist.

Sold as one complete lot.

Crate does not come with the cards.
