Everything You Need To Know About Alanis Morissette

Alanis Morissette is unlike any other modern female artist today. She rose to fame in her early 20s like many other female singers, but fans appreciated her artistry before her looks or sex appeal. This is a far-cry from many other female singer-songwriters, who many people judge by their looks before paying heed to their songs. Alanis is originally from Canada, where she released two solo albums and was also a part of a band during her teenage years before moving to the United States.
Her relocation to Los Angeles would cement her career as a solo artist. In 1995, Maverick Records released Jagged Little Pill, which spawned numerous hit singles, such as “You Oughta Know,” “Head Over Feet,” “Ironic,” and “You Learn.” Since then, Alanis has made a name for herself, continuing to create new studio albums. At the same time, she has also made a few acting appearances on television shows, plays and movies. Her role as God in Dogma pretty much sums up her ability to succeed in a controversial role while still maintaining fame among millions of fans.
While Alanis lays out her life in her songs, she remains hush-hush in real life. Her song “You Oughta Know” has been speculated to be about her early relationship with Dave Coulier (a.k.a. Uncle Joey), but Alanis has neither confirmed nor denied this. After a few rocky relationships, Alanis wed rapper Mario Treadway and the couple had a son together in 2010.
