Rowan Atkinson Puts His McLaren F1 Up For Sale

After seventeen years, 41,000 miles, two crashes, and one owner, it looks like Rowan Atkinson is preparing to part ways with his McLaren F1. There isn’t an actual online listing of the car yet so we don’t know the exact price tag but it’s somewhere around 8 million pounds or 12 million dollars.

That’s a hefty tag for a car that was once wrapped around a tree, but because of the rarity of the F1 — only 107 were ever produced and just 64 of them were actually street cars — it’s really no surprise.

While it’s hard to top a McLaren F1, Atkinson is a longtime car enthusiast so we’re sure he’ll add another car to his garage soon.

Rowan Atkinson Drives Around in his Audi A1

It’s no secret that Rowan Atkinson loves cars. Between his McLaren F1 and his Mercedes Benz SLS he has a pretty sweet garage but lets face it, the F1 isn’t exactly the best for running around town so what does Atkinson drive when he’s trying to be a bit more practical? His Audi A1. Atkinson and his wife were spotted getting into the economical Audi A1 in London recently.

Rowan Atkinson’s Mercedes Benz SLS

Rowan Atkinson doesn’t exactly have the best driving record but he sure knows how to pick out his cars. First it was his McLaren F1 (that he unfortunately crashed into a tree) and now this new red Mercedes Benz SLS. Hopefully he’ll have a better track record with this SLS.

Rowan Atkinson’s McLaren F1 Is Back In Action

Remember when Rowan Atkinson crashed his McLaren F1 into a tree last year — it wasn’t pretty — actually it was pretty scary looking. Fortunately, Atkinson was able to walk away from the crash with only a relatively minor injury but his McLaren was mangled to the point where we thought for sure it wouldn’t be fixed. Turns out it wasn’t a complete write off after all. McLaren’s Special Operations division decided the F1 was actually a repair job with an estimated cost of £910,000 (1.4 million dollars). The insurance company paid out to fix it and officially make it the most expensive insurance payout ever recorded in Britain.

So what did Atkinson do once the car was fixed — drive it of course. He wasted no time at all getting back into the drivers seat. Lets just hope he steers clear of the trees this time!

Mr. Bean Wrecks His McLaren F1

“Mr. Bean” a.k.a British actor and comedian Rowan Atkinson is one very lucky man today after crashing his McLaren F1 last night into a light post and a tree.

Atkinson was able to walk away from the crash with only a minor shoulder injury but his McLaren will need a lot more than just a band aid. It’s not clear whether or not the car will even be able to be repaired.

This is the second time Atkinson has crashed his McLaren that he bought himself back in 1997. Maybe he should just call this one good and not press his luck anymore with the McLaren. Just saying…
