Stunning Authentic Art Nouveau / Edwardian Miniature Frame

Up for sale is a beautiful, genuine antique miniature picture frame. This piece features a classic Art Nouveau asymmetrical floral spray atop a heavy gilt brass oval frame.

Conservation Note: I have intentionally chosen to leave this frame in its authentic, unrestored state. The only element that has been carefully cleaned is the original hand-ground glass. The metalwork retains its 100% natural patina and a century’s worth of oxidation in the deep crevices of the floral design. This preserves the historical character of the piece and ensures the original gilt finish has not been damaged by modern chemical cleaners.

Key Features & Condition:

Original Hand-Ground Glass: Now sparkling clean! It features the characteristic polished, rounded edges of high-quality period glass. No chips or cracks.

Material: Heavy cast metal with a rich, aged gold-tone (gilt brass) finish.

Backing: Original burgundy/magenta velvet easel back. Shows honest wear and includes a charming "make-do" repair on the hinge using period-appropriate linen tape and a stabilizing pin.

Authentic Construction: Held together by the original side-pin method. Two of the four original pins are included and hold the assembly securely.

Details: Floral cluster features hand-set paste stones (some missing, consistent with age).

Condition Note: This is a true antique, over 100 years old. It shows a wonderful "shabby chic" patina. Please review all high-resolution photos for a detailed look at the "inside workings."
