Vintage Handmade Applique Quilt Blue White Mabel Young Bronyna 76x70:

Beautiful vintage handmade appliqué quilt made by Mabel Young, an accomplished seamstress who spent many years working in the garment industry.

This quilt features a cream/off-white background with repeating blue floral-print appliqué motifs outlined in contrasting reddish stitching. Decorative curving quilting fills the background.

The name “Bronyna” is stitched in red directly into the quilt. Bronyna is Mabel Young's granddaughter, and this quilt was made for her and remained within the family.

Measurements: Approximately 76" × 70"

Age: Vintage. Exact date is unknown. Based on its family history, materials and construction, it is believed to date to the mid-to-late 20th century.

Construction: Handmade quilt incorporating machine stitching. It is not being represented as entirely hand-sewn or hand-quilted.

Condition Details

The quilt still feels strong and structurally sturdy overall.

No holes were observed in the main body or backing. The blue appliqué fabrics show varying degrees of fading and wear, and there are scattered areas of staining/discoloration consistent with age and use.

There is significant deterioration along portions of the top edge, including fraying, splitting and loss of the outer fabric with batting exposed in places. This is the most significant area of deterioration and is clearly shown in the photographs. The remainder of the quilt is substantially better preserved.

The quilt was machine washed with Clean People laundry detergent sheets and remains strong and intact after washing.

I have intentionally photographed the most significant areas of staining, wear and deterioration so buyers can accurately assess its condition. Please examine all photographs carefully as they are part of the description.

A beautiful vintage family-made textile with known history, a named maker, and the original recipient's name stitched directly into the quilt.
