Offered is a Chinese carved amber (possibly pressed amber,referred to in Asian antiquities as "tiger amber" or "sun amber")calligrapher's paperweight, finely detailed in the form of a cicada resting atop a curved bamboo stem, representing rebirth, immortality, and good fortune.The top is deeply carved with an articulated cicada displaying textured wing veining, while the underside features a concave profile with a structural cross-bar and characteristic internal crazing across the unpolished core and internal heat/pressure stress line due to heat-and-pressure forming process. Some black organic inclusions are visible underside.Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. The polished exterior surfaces remain smooth with crisp, intact details to the cicada's wings, legs, and body. The underside exhibits expected naturalistic surface texture, internal heat/pressure stress lines, and fine micro-crazing inherent to aged pressed amber. Free of major chips or repairs.
