Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic vintage Latin American folk art santo (religious saint) figure. Hand-carved from solid native wood and completely hand-painted, this piece features wonderful traditional hues of teal, deep red, and cream pigments.Features a bearded male saint or religious figure wearing a distinctive black cap and a red vestment with a white cross painted on the chest. He holds a small book or bible in his left hand, with his right hand extended forward. Stands approximately 15 inches tall and measures about 3.5 inches wide at the square base.The underside of the base features an authentic, handwritten inscription reading "Santo's 7/4/91" fixed with traditional vintage square nails.This santo is in excellent vintage condition with an incredible aged character. The wood has a rustic, primitive finish showing the artisan's chisel marks. There is minor paint loss and surface wear that beautifully emphasizes its authentic folk art history.
