Antique/Vintage 1940s Mechanical Stand-Up Valentine's Day Card – "Nothing PHONE-Y"

Up for sale is a beautiful, authentic mid-century mechanical Valentine's Day greeting card manufactured in the USA. This colorful die-cut card features a charming illustration of a young girl on a retro telephone with a clever pun: "Nothing PHONE-Y about my wanting you for my VALENTINE." The bottom portion features a fold-down flap containing a sweet romantic verse framed by roses, hearts, and forget-me-nots.

Key Features & Mechanics:Era: Circa late 1930s to 1940s

Style: Mechanical pull-down/fold-down flap with an expandable tissue paper honeycomb base that allows the card to stand upright for display.

Markings: Clear "MADE IN USA" stamp on both the front image and the bottom-rear edge.

Measurements: Base measures approximately 4.5 inches wide.

Condition Report:

This card is in Good to Very Good Vintage Condition and is unique because it is completely Unused / Unsigned on the back.

Front Graphics: Vibrant, crisp colors with clean die-cut edges and zero fading.

Honeycomb Mechanism: The orange tissue paper honeycomb is present but shows age-related fragility, with shredding and separation along the central column (see close-up photos). It must be handled with care.

Edges/Reverse: The back is clean and free of handwriting. There is minor surface paper loss/glue residue at the top rear edge from original manufacturing/nesting. The bottom-rear edge shows some minor fraying, layering separation, and a small tear on the corner from storage.
