Up for sale is a truly unique, authentic vintage item with an incredible piece of hidden Michigan history preserved inside!The front features a beautiful 1920s/1930s lithograph print titled "Just to Love." This classic early-century piece is a soft-toned portrait of a curly-haired infant with blue eyes holding a ball, featuring the printed plate signature of original artist Henry F. Wiseman in the lower corner. It was produced by the prominent New York art publisher Morris & Bendien.
The "Hidden History" Discovery:
When carefully examining the backing of the frame, a rare piece of early 20th-century Michigan industrial advertising was discovered being used as the structural support board! The interior backing board is an authentic vintage cardboard panel for "Alies Yarn" from the Eaton Rapids Woolen Mills (Founded 1836). Because the mill operated under this exact corporate name only between 1918 and 1937 before changing to Horner Woolen Mills, it perfectly dates the entire framing assembly to the late 1920s or early 1930s.
Frame & Presentation:
• Frame: Housed in its original wooden period frame featuring a classic mottled green and gold finish with beautiful antique patina.
• Backing: Original vintage wire framing structure intact on the reverse side. The "Alies Yarn" logo panel is kept securely inside the frame backing.
• Title: "JUST TO LOVE" remains clearly visible on the lower matting border.
Condition:
Good vintage condition for its age. The print shows some light spotting/foxing and minor age-related discoloration which blends seamlessly with its historic aesthetic. The frame has great character and secure glass. The historic cardboard backing shows some expected wear and aging from decades inside the frame but the graphic remains bright, bold, and fully legible.
