Vintage 1920s 1930s European Grand Tour Travel Photo Album Scrapbook Ephemera:
$245.00

This authentic vintage early 20th-century scrapbook meticulously logs an extensive European Grand Tour spanning over a decade of travel. The collection features a premium assortment of real photo postcards, highly detailed illustrations, and color prints from famed travel stops across Great Britain, France, Switzerland, San Marino, and Italy. Rich in historical documentation, the album contains multiple handwriting styles in pencil and ink tracking specific dates and travel milestones, including a crucial note marking a transatlantic voyage return to Manhattan on July 12, 1935. Notable historical highlights include an exceptional real photo postcard documenting a British Royal Family visit to Pisa in March 1925 (featuring King George, Queen Mary, and Princess Victoria), real photo postcards showcasing late 1920s/early 1930s Fascist architecture in Rome (Foro Mussolini), and highly collectible ocean liner pieces, including a vibrant Cunard White Star Line illustration of the MV Georgic by maritime artist James S. Mann. Adding to the unique provenance, an authentic 1930s newspaper clipping is preserved loose inside, detailing a May 1933 voyage of the famous Italian ocean liner SS Rex from New York to Naples, alongside a documented July 24, 1936 news clipping reporting on Pope Pius XI.

Condition Notes: The album's binding is completely detached, and all internal pages are loose and presented as a stacked collection of heavy paper pages. The hardcover fabric tapestry boards show heavy rubbing, edge fraying, and surface wear consistent with age, with empty binding holes exposed on the margins. The internal heavy paper sheets exhibit typical signs of vintage wear, including edge chipping, corner rounding, minor crinkling, light age toning, and some small tears or punch-hole degradation along the left margins where previously bound. The individual mounted postcards and ephemera prints remain in largely stable, very good condition, showing expected general aging, light shelf wear, and minor silvering on select glossy finishes.
