An Unusual Find. This is an advertising piece for Usher's O.V.G. (Old Vatted Glenlivet), and we believe it to be a match holder. It was manufactured by Raphael Tuck & Sons, who were best known during the 1800s for their postcards. It measures 2 3/4" tall and is heavy for the size.There are crazing lines throughout. It features a poem written in 1899 by Rudyard Kipling, "The Absent Minded Beggar" and an illustration by Richard Canton Woodville, "A Gentleman in Khaki". These two works were used together as part of an appeal to help raise money for soldiers fighting in the Second Boer War. We will ship within 24 hours of payment and we appreciate reasonable offers.
