RT-70/GRC Radio Transceiver AM-65 Power Supply US Army NATO Military Vehicle Jeep
Up for sale is a classic piece of Cold War communication technology: the RT-70 Transceiver with the AM-65 Power Supply unit. Designed for the US Army, this universal radio station was engineered for maximum versatility. It served as a companion to the portable PRC-series radios and functioned as the smallest mobile set for jeeps, trucks, and armored vehicles.
Due to its compact footprint, it was frequently used by high-ranking commanders in command vehicles to maintain a dedicated line to the nearest communication hub without cluttering the cabin.
Technical Condition:
Overall: Excellent technical and mechanical condition. The unit is complete.
Power Supply Note: The AM-65 unit is missing three vacuum tubes. Please note that this does not affect the operation of the power supply. These tubes were historically removed by operators when the radio was used independently, as they were only necessary for retransmission (relay) functions. Removing them was a common practice to reduce power consumption.
Versatility: Depending on the converter used, it can be powered by 6V, 12V, or 24V.
Technical Specifications:
Frequency Range: 47–58.4 MHz

Output Power: 0.5W
Power Requirement: 24V DC (Note: The radio itself requires only 6V and 90V, making it easy to power with a custom battery pack if desired).
Dimensions: 24 x 33 x 19 cm (approx. 9.5 x 13 x 7.5 inches)
Collector’s Note:This set is perfect for military vehicle enthusiasts and restorers. Because these units were used by NATO forces for decades, they are the authentic choice for a period-correct installation in vintage military vehicles.
