Superfest is the legendary East German glassware developed in the 1970s and produced by VEB Sachsenglas Schwepnitz through the 1980's. Made from chemically strengthened glass, Superfest was designed for exceptional durability and resistance to breakage, making it especially popular in restaurants, bars, and public institutions throughout the former GDR. Production ended after German reunification, and surviving examples are now increasingly sought after by collectors for their distinctive minimalist design, Cold War history, and remarkable strength, being between 5x and 15x stronger than untreated glass.
This purchase includes the exact two glasses shown. These particular glasses appear to have been crushed and each has a major crack. I do not recommend using them to drink from. They could be used as display pieces or to do some cool experiments with Superfest glass. I scribbled on them with sharpie to make sure I didn’t sell them as undamaged. This should wash off with alcohol or acetone.
These are the largest and most desirable size of Superfest glass, the 0.5L variety. My assessment is these would be considered "A" grade for wear, but for the cracks. Please look at the photos for details. There are a few scratches and scuffs from normal wear but nothing large other than the cracks. If these glasses are not to your liking please check my other listings as I am listing two similar sets now and may have more coming in the future.
