RUBY AMBROTYPE PORTRAIT OF A MAN W/ INJURED ARM, IN OVAL MATTE, 1/6 PLATE:

This is an extremely nice and interesting ruby ambrotype in excellent condition, of a younger man with a beard, nicely dressed, with a strap across his body that I suspect was to support an injured arm. I am not certain, but that is the only explanation I can come up with. There is also a tiny slip of translucent paper inside the glass with the name A.M. Lyous, 1534 Market Street. This came from a famous San Francisco collection, so may be the work of a relatively unknown photographer of San Francisco, but again, I am not sure. The image is in an oval matte, and I have it in a half leatherette case for protection. The image measures 2 3/4 by 3 1/4 inches. If not as I describe it to be, you may return it for a full refund, including postage. I recommend a Priority Mail Flat Rate box for safety, but also offer a less expensive but less secure option.Please note: We will ship the image as carefully and inexpensively as we can.
