Bound in the publisher's decorative teal cloth with elaborate gilt birdcage design to the front cover and ornate gilt spine decoration. The binding remains especially appealing, with strong shelf presence and the distinctive Victorian juvenile design that collectors of nineteenth-century children's books seek.
Illustrated with full-page engravings. The story follows the adventures of Cousin Eugene and reflects the family-centered moral and domestic themes characteristic of post-Civil War American juvenile literature.
