There are many World Trade Center and September 11th pressed pennies and commemorative coins available today, including numerous designs produced after 2001. This is different. This penny was actually pressed at the original World Trade Center before September 11, 2001.

The penny machine located at the World Trade Center offered three designs:

• Empire State Building / New York
• "TOP OF THE WORLD" with the original Twin Towers
• Statue of Liberty

The Empire State Building and Statue of Liberty designs were also produced at other penny machine locations. However, the "TOP OF THE WORLD" Twin Towers design was exclusive to the World Trade Center machine. This was the only documented machine where this particular design was available.

The machine was located at the World Trade Center and was lost when the Twin Towers were destroyed on September 11, 2001. Because this particular design was only available there, surviving examples are extremely rare and very difficult to find, especially in nice condition.

At the time of this listing, I have been unable to find another example of this exact "TOP OF THE WORLD" World Trade Center penny currently listed anywhere on .

This example remains in very nice vintage condition with excellent detail. The Twin Towers, "TOP OF THE WORLD" lettering, "NEW YORK" lettering, windows, and beaded border remain clearly defined. It has attractive natural copper toning along with minor surface wear and oxidation consistent with its age. Please examine the high-resolution photographs carefully, as they show the exact penny you will receive.

I have also included a reference image from PennyCollector.com showing the three designs documented from the original World Trade Center machine. The center image highlighted in red is this exact "TOP OF THE WORLD" Twin Towers design.

This is not simply a World Trade Center themed collectible. It is a genuine surviving souvenir from the original Twin Towers, pressed at the World Trade Center itself before September 11, 2001.
