A substantial mid-20th century cast brass dagger with scabbard from Turkey, modeled after the famous Enveriye honor dagger issued to Ottoman officers circa 1916 under Enver Pasha. The exterior closely reproduces daggers found in museum collections, including the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. "Turkey" is engraved on one blade side and "Ist" (Istanbul) on the other.The dagger is solid cast brass throughout with an antiqued finish, 13 inches long and weighing 1 lb 4 oz. It displays handsomely as a wall hanging or on a display shelf. It's a decorative piece only--the blade is unsharpened brass.
In very good vintage condition with attractive age patina. The friction fit is snug, causing the blade to seat in the scabbard with a small gap as shown in the photo--common in these reproductions as they're not ground to fit. The attractiveness of the display remains unaffected.
