New Old Stock (NOS) Box of 12 Mt. Fuji Inn Omaha Asian Themed Restaurant Ware 7" Ceramic Porcelain Round Plates In Original Box (IOB)These plates are New Old Stock (NOS), made by the Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) in Japan for Omaha's first Japanese restaurant, the iconic Mt. Fuji Inn.
The Mt. Fuji Inn and Mai Tai Lounge operated at 72nd and Blondo Streets in Omaha, Nebraska, for 50 years between 1967 and 2017.
The Mt. Fuji logo was hand painted on each piece. No two are exactly the same. The Japanese characters taken to mean "Mt. Fuji Inn" were applied using a stencil.
The plates were never used in the restaurant and have remained in the original boxes used to ship them from Japan to Omaha, circa 1970. The excelsior used in the boxes is believed to be bamboo straw.
