Lin-Art Ltd Ancient Japanese Art of Chokin #1004 in 11 3/4" Frame: Flowers.

This piece of art is from an estate and is in excellent framed condition. Actual art work is approximately 7” x 5” landscape, frame measures 11.75” x 9.50” and has a sawtooth hanger ready for your wall. The art is a large blossoming flower, a peony bush, with foliage surrounding it. A small butterfly is off to the left of the flower. It is signed by the artist in Japanese.

Line-art’s pictures are created by the ancient art of Chokin which was used to decorate the armament of the Samurai warriors during the feudal period of Japan (1192-1858). This technique is practiced on a limited scale today and has been handed down through generations of artists through long periods of study under master artists.

Hand engraving, gilding the copper plate with layers of gold and silver, hand tooling and applying acids creates the colorful sculptured surface. Each work of art is singed by the artisit and a clear protective finish is applied.
