Giant Ground Sloth vertebra, an Ice Age (Pleistocene) subfossil recovered from a Florida sinkhole on private property, with the landowner's permission. Other fossils have come from the same site.
This is a large vertebra with both wing-like transverse processes, the neural arch, and the spinous process. It has strong presence for display.
Measurements:
Width across the transverse processes: about 10 in
Height, including spinous process: about 4.25 in
Condition: Solid, with rich natural tan and dark mineral staining. There is some edge wear and a chipped tip on one transverse process, as shown in the photos. Natural and unrestored, with no glue or paint.
