This antique c1900 Hopi wicker plaque basket Yungyapu is a unique and handmade piece that originated in Arizona by an unknown Hopi artisan. This plaque carries a historical significance as it was owned by a relative of mine who bought it off the reservation while helping build the Santa Fe Railroad. This collectible item serves as a tangible piece of history that showcases the rich heritage and traditions of the Pueblo peoples of the American Southwest.NOTE PICTURED: "Bought on the reservation while uncle Bernard Plummer operated the forerunner of the steam shovel -- by horse putting in the Santa Fe Railroad in N. AZ + New Mexico." The bottom of the front of the note says: "Worth a few hundred"
This note was written by my grandmother and stored with this wicker plaque for decades.
