An early 1900s black and white photograph capturing a group outing on the water. Four figures dressed in period suits, dark coats, and hats are gathered in a long wooden rowboat, with one seated high on the stern and another holding an oar. The boat floats on a calm pond or lake, with reflections in the water, leafy trees along the far bank, and a white farmhouse-style building with a porch in the distance on the right.The image is printed on light card with a wide cream border, and the reverse is blank with no writing, stamps, or photographer's marks. The location and the people shown are unidentified. The clothing and hat styles point to roughly 1905 to 1915.
A charming piece of Edwardian leisure and summer boating history, well suited to vintage photo collectors, rowing and small-craft enthusiasts, framing, scrapbooking, or mixed-media and ephemera art.
Measures approximately 5 1/2" x 3 1/4" overall, with an image area of approximately 4 3/8" x 2 1/2".
Condition:Used, antique condition with age-appropriate wear. Two corners along one short side are clipped. A diagonal crease runs through the upper left border. A small tear and chip with surface paper loss is along the right edge, and a crease extends from that edge into the lower right water area of the image. There is a thin, curving light streak across the center of the image near the boat, which appears to be an original processing mark. The paper shows overall toning, light soiling, and edge wear. The reverse is toned with minor spotting. Please review the detailed photos carefully to judge condition.
