Founded by Harry MacElhone and a circle that included American newspapermen and regulars, the organization designated Harry’s as its original “Trap No. 1.” Members adopted humorous fly-themed titles, rules, greetings and insignia, while subsequent I.B.F. chapters, known as “traps,” appeared around the world.
