Antique German Paper Scrap Santa Claus Christmas Ornament with Tinsel Wire — Circa 1900
Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, authentic turn-of-the-century German Christmas ornament. This piece features a classic Victorian-era embossed chromolithograph paper die-cut "scrap" of Father Christmas with a detailed white beard and deep red cowl hood. [1]
- Construction: The paper scrap is attached to an old, authentic crinkled wire tinsel hanger loop.
- Aesthetics: A wonderful example of early holiday folk art or traditional cottage industry tree decorations.
- Condition Note: This is a genuine antique item well over 100 years old. It shows expected signs of age including minor surface wear, light edge softening on the die-cut paper, natural browning/oxidation on the cardboard back, and darkening/patina to the metallic tinsel wire. There is a small pinhole near the bottom of the beard. No major tears or repairs. Please inspect all high-resolution photos closely to evaluate condition details.
Shipped with extreme care in a rigid box to prevent bending.
