...Here's a big original antique Princess Feather pattern kerosene oil lamp made in the 1890s....complete with brass threaded collar, Eagle burner, wick and glass chimney. This Princess Feather 125 year old oil lamp is pictured on page 279 of Thuro's book on Oil Lamps......it was one of the fanciest oil lamps ever produced in the 1800s! Hand pressed in 4 part mold.....square with highly decorated hollow footed base.....beautiful amethyst purple....9 3/8"tall to threaded brass collar.....18"counting burner and chimney. It has a hard to see crack that runs 3/4 around the very base of font where it is joined to the footed base; no other damage. Displays great. A nice clean lamp with no haze ... Original brass threaded collar is excellent with no cracks or damage....Antique EAGLE emb burner is excellent working condition with no damage. Turns the wick up and down. Glass chimney is also excellent with no chips or damage. ....This is one of the classic all time most decorated antique lamps from the Victorian Gilded Era of the 1890s. Princess Feather was one of the most popular styles of kerosene oil lamps and is often called a Parlor lamp or Sewing lamp because they usually sat on a table in the parlor or used when women gathered around to make quilts and sew... Glass that contains manganese, when exposed to ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, causes the glass to turn amethyst. Some of my amethyst bottles and glass are purpled from years of exposure to natural sunlight. Others have been purpled with the use of strong UV lights in a box…and some have been purpled by running them through a water sterilization plant, which is a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as many years of exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster
