Lot of two original real photo postcards (RPPCs) showing an earlyU.S. Mail delivery carstuck in mud on a rough country road, likely circa1912–1917. Both images capture the challenges ofRural Free Deliveryin the early automobile era.

One card shows the driver standing beside the stranded vehicle; the other shows him seated, waiting. The front caption reads:“Poor fellow he says, ain’t it a hard life to sit out here in the mud and cold and wait for some one to come out. Bring some extras.”
