1862 letter from Fred to his "precious little wife", written at Camp Auger at Upton Hill, Virginia (today Camp Upton). In the letter he talks about his time at the camp and how he expects to move to the front towards Manassas. He also mentions there are "camps in every direction" and "there was a regiment passed us the other day going out on picket & a mighty pretty woman escorting them out on horseback."
