Up for sale is a vintage animal effigy vessel, handmade in Mexico. This piece is crafted in the distinctive style of ancient West Mexican Pre-Columbian Colima pottery. It features a stylized dog or jungle animal in a resting position, supporting a flared jar/bowl on its back. The bottom is explicitly hand-stamped with "Mexico". It features etched geometric lines along the body and face, finished with a rustic red-orange burnished slip and dark, mottled aging details that give it a wonderful primitive look.Perfect as a standalone decorative piece for collectors of Mexican folk art, or as a bohemian-style accent bowl.
