Everything You Need To Know About Rowan Atkinson

In the States, most of us know him as Mr. Bean. To the rest of the world, this British actor is known as Rowan Atkinson. Rowan is famous for many of his acting roles, including those in hit series such as Mr. Bean and Blackadder. When he isn’t acting in television roles, Rowan keeps busy doing stand-up acts, as well as with screenwriting gigs.
Rowan grew up in Consett, England. He came from a farming and business family, and his brothers went on to pursue careers in economics and politics. Although Rowan initially took a stab at a traditional career by studying electrical engineering, he found that comedy was his passion early on. In fact, he started writing and performing stand-up acts and sketches while attending Oxford University.
While younger generations might not be as familiar with Rowan’s work, he is responsible for influencing a great number of comedians of today. For example, if you are a fan of the infamous Sacha Baron Cohen, you partially have Rowan to thank. More recently, the world got to see Rowan in a hilarious sketch during the opening ceremonies for the 2012 Summer Olympics, which were held in London.
