Authentic John F Kennedy JFK Signed & Owned 6 Vol Set Books HISTORY OF IRELAND:
$45000.00

~Guaranteed Authentic~

Amazing six volume set of books titled \"History of Ireland\" by E.A. D\'Alton and printed in 1912. If the books were in Excellent-Mint condition they would be worth $600-1,000 but this is no ordinary set of these books. Available for the first time to the public, this set is believed to have been owned by and is signed inside each copy by our 35th President . . . . John F Kennedy.

These books were recently purchased within close proximity to Palm Beach and that leads me to believe that they were at one time kept at the Kennedy Winter White House that was recently sold for $70 million back in June. After 25 years of collecting autographs and months of research, I can confidently say that these were signed by JFK circa 1942-1944 and I\'m 99% sure that they were owned by him. In regard to the President\'s ownership and signature authenticity:

  1. There are numerous sale records of books that were owned by Kennedy and signed at the top front endpage just as the first five are. The sixth however, is signed upside down on the rear endpage as if he had all of the books lined up and this one happened to be upside down. There are also books in the inventory at the Kennedy Library in Boston that confirm that he signed some of his personally owned books. Also, there would be no reason for President Kennedy to sign 6 volumes from a set for some random person without any type of notation or was stationed in downtown Miami at the Submarine Chaser Training Center in March-October 1944, although he was not there most of that time because of back surgery in Massachusetts. He was an avid reader starting at a young age and that was in part due to his various medical conditions causing him to be bedridden. I\'ve been told that there is a possibility that these were with him in Miami while stationed there.

  2. Family history and his Irish heritage were very important to Kennedy and these would have been necessary reading in preparation for his visit to Ireland in 1945 as a journalist and again in 1947 as Congressman Kennedy. There are numerous pages in the 5th and 6th volume that have been dog-eared for specific interest I assume.

  3. There are volumes of inventory of books and other property from the Kennedy White House, Kennedy\'s Senate office, and the Kennedy\'s Hyannis Port residence that have been searched for records of these books but none were found. This makes me think that they were probably originally owned by Joseph P. Kennedy and given to JFK at some point. I have yet to find inventory from the Palm Beach estate that was originally owned by the parents Rose and Joseph Kennedy but I\'m still working on that.
  4. There is a thin brown piece of paper in volume one that I believe was from a cigarette pack and an actual cigarette wrapper (the same size as the brown paper) that was from a 50 cigarette pack of Player\'s Medium Navy Cut Cigarettes that based on my research, is from that early to mid 1940\'s period. These cigarettes were popular with servicemen at that time and Kennedy was known to smoke, albeit not cigarettes as frequently as cigars.

These signatures have been hidden from light and the elements for close to 80 years and because of that, they are crisp, clear and pristine. I have included a photo of all six in order from 1-6 and while all signatures are slightly different, when compared to known exemplars from the mid 1940\'s period, there are minute specifics that are consistent with his signature. Check out the signature from volume five . . . that measures a full 3 3/4 inches in length! There are not that many Kennedy signatures from this period of his short life and these are some of the most perfect examples of Kennedy signatures from any period that I can find. Perfect signatures are even rarer, considering the fact that for many letters and autographs, Kennedy used a robot signer and secretarial signers as early as 1956*.
Please note that the books are in Fair to Very Good condition based on industry standards. There are no missing pages and all are intact. There is some foxing that does not affect the pages that are signed, there is some chipping on the edges of the spines, and separation at the front and back hinges of most volumes.
Due to issues with people that have nothing better to do than create fake accounts to disrupt this and cause undue headaches, anyone who offers that has 0 response will have their offers cancelled unless they contact me first with verifiable contact information. As of now, I have these listed as local pick-up only because I\'m not sure how confident I feel shipping these. Let\'s see how things go and delivery or pick-up can be worked out at a later date. However, these will need to be paid for before being picked up and although it doesn\'t concern me . . . unless they are deemed not authentic by a reputable authenticator, they are not returnable and if so, must be returned in their current condition with no additional wear.*based on the 1965 book \"the robot that helped to make a president\' by Charles Hamilton.
