1947 Marilyn Monroe Original Photo Bernard Palm Springs Racquet Club Vintage:
Selling my extremely rare 1947 Marilyn Monroe original Photo by Bruno Bernard taken at the Palm Springs Racquet Club. Gelatin silver. Size 8 x 10 inch. Here she is looking absolutely gorgeous in this famous session with Bernard of Hollywood. Very difficult to find this photo especially showing head to toe and with Johnny Hide. In excellent condition. I have actually never come across this pose offered for sale again. This is said to be where Marilyn first met Johnny Hide. Produced from the original negative or transparency. One can see from this particular photo that this was produced from the original negative because in the very right corner (I took a close up to show, it’s usually not shown at all when the photo is “Printed in the US”) is Bernard’s stamp that he would commonly use on his black and white photos’ negatives and produce his black and white photos with the negative having been stamped prior to printing. Not on all his photographs such as his color photos but many of his black and white photos he would often do that. My best guess is this was produced in the 60’s.
The story of Marilyn and Johnny Hide is particularly endearing; Marilyn was such a sweetheart that when she found out Johnny had a heart condition she studied books on heart disease to try and help him. There is even a photo of Marilyn lounging on a sun chair in Johnny’s backyard taken by photographer Earl Leaf which shows her with books by her side, as she was an avid reader, and one can clearly read the title of one of the books and the title is on heart disease. Marilyn was such a kindhearted, thoughtful, incredible human being. Not only was she beautiful beyond belief but she was incredibly kind, honest, extremely intelligent, generous, witty, funny, an expert singer, dancer and actress-she really had it all. She was truly an amazing human being. It is said that Johnny helped Marilyn’s career and loved her very much so.
