When you're Mark Wahlberg and you have a garage full of cars including Bentley's, Mercedes' and Porsche's you certainly can't add a plain jane stock Escalade to the mix. Mark recently brought his Cadillac down to the guys at West Coast Customs for a little overhaul (OK, a big overhaul). The interior was completely stripped so that an automated partition could be added as well as ergonomic recliner seats, a DirecTV satellite link with LCD monitors and retracting table-tops (for when Mark needs to do a little business from the backseat). Of course the outside needed a little something too so they blacked it out and added new wheels and suspension.

It's pretty nice but do you like it better than Beckham's Escalade??

Oh if only we could all live like Marky Mark...

Mark Wahlberg showed up to an event recently looking suave as usual in a black Cadillac Escalade.

There are tons of celebrities who choose to drive sport utility vehicles rather than compact sports cars and convertibles. Owning big rides is a part of Hollywood's materialistic culture, especially ones that patent their status symbols and swag. Here are the top 3 SUVs celebrities drive:

3. Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon

You might think that the boxy body would attract mostly the younger male celebrities, but it's the up and coming female stars who are seen around driving the Mercedes G-Wagon. Disney starlets seem to be in awe of this car because most of them own one including Ashley Tisdale, Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus and Brenda Song. Fashionable A-listers Ashley Olsen, Emma Roberts, Hilary Duff and Audrina Patridge were also spotted driving a G-Wagon, and it definitely adds a touch of edginess to their sweet and classy images. Other stars who proudly own a G-Wagon include Britney Spears, Joe Jonas, Nicole Richie, Megan Fox, Kanye West and Joel Madden. One last thing, Arnold Schwarzenegger owns one too.

2. Cadillac Escalade

It's been mentioned on rap songs, shown in movies, and has become a celebrity car stereotype because of its luxurious and expensive vibe. Athletes, musicians, actors old and young as well and public figures go nuts about this car and here's proof: superstar athletes Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Brett Favre, Tiki Barber, David Beckham, and Anna Kournikova has one. Talk about being a Sport Utility Vehicle! Veterans such as Dennis Quaid, Teri Hatcher also drive one, and reality star Whitney Port,  punk drummer Travis Barker and legendary actor Andy Garcia all own one-- not to mention the huge number of rappers who have gleaming Escalades in their garages. Oh, and how could we forget Paris Hilton and her Escalade Hybrid.

1. Range Rover

With over 100 spotted in Hollywood alone, it's no doubt that this popular ride is the number one celebrity car not just in the SUV category, but overall.  I love to hate them and the truth is I really like the looks.  Personally I would never buy one since the prices drop like a rock and I actually like the G-Wagon and the Cayenne GTS far more.  If you want to know which celebrities own and drive a Range Rover, here are some of them and boy the variety of their chosen fields overwhelming: host Ryan Seacrest, Aaron Eckhart, Jeremy Piven, Nicky and Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson, Michael Phelps, Olivia Wilde, Angelina Jolie, Kiera Knightley, Daniel Craig, musician John Mayer, Nicole Richie, Kate Walsh, Brody Jenner, Jennifer Lopez, Pamela Anderson, David and Victoria Beckham, Miley Cyrus, rapper Bow Wow, Grey's Anatomy stars Ellen Pompeo and Katherine Heigl, and yes, even legendary NBA players Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant seem to nod on this vehicle. And we're hoping he realized that his old 996 Porsche was garbage and traded that thing in on some new floormats for this car or something of similar cost.

The LA traffic police pulled over the rapper-turned-Hollywood honcho and his Bentley Azure after he missed a stop sign. The actor and Entourage producer was on his way to Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was next seen after the incident. He must have said, “Yo chief, I’m late for church. Can you take it in your heart to let Marky Mark, the creator of Good Vibrations be late for service? I guess not”.

Marky Mark sure made his rounds today with this story and I read lots of chatter about why he'd drive an old 996 Porsche, arguably the red headed step child of generations for the 911. When I later read that maybe he doesn't like to waste money on cars I had to chuckle...

First off, why is Mark Wahlberg rocking a 996 Carrera Cab? Anyways it looks like he had a little IMS failure which is a wide spread problem on the 996 platform. Rough night for Wahlberg but he's got a few more rides back in the stable and I've got a feeling this guy might now find it's way home... maybe eBay instead.

UPDATE: This indeed was an IMS failure caused by excessive good vibrations...
